An Aero Garden For Fun and Enjoyment
By Barbara Volkov
An Aero Garden is actually a self contained indoor garden for the beginner and also for fun and enjoyment. The hydroponic garden uses a method that is called aeroponics which means the plant roots dangle in moist air and are nourished by a water reservoir that you occasionally feed nutrient tablets. This method of aeroponics is also been classified a hydroponic garden, no dirt touches any part of the Aero Garden.
The Aero Garden manufacturer, AeroGrow International, offers several seed kits so you can grow flowers, herbs, peppers, lettuce, and tomatoes. If you are not very comfortable with vegetable gardening or flower gardening, this garden will help because you really can not fail. The best part is everything grows 30 to 50 percent faster than if you planted them in soil.
These aeroponic hydroponic systems will allow you to grow vegetables or flowers anywhere in your home anytime of the year. You can have one set up as your vegetable garden in the kitchen, another in the bedroom with flowers, and yet another one in the living room for an herb garden. This method of gardening is actually a computerized garden that will let you know when it is time to add water and nutrients. This self contained kit also has grow lights that are programmable. The garden needs to be on for about 16 hours and off 8 hours a day.
This gardening kit includes everything you need, the growing container, seed pods, grow lights, nutrient tablets, and full instructions for operating. All you need to do is place the seed pods in the holes, fill the reservoir, add nutrient tablets, and you are ready to grow. You may have a nice harvest in a few weeks since the germination and growth is faster than if grown in soil. There is no maintenance; occasionally a light will blink to let you know it is time to water and add nutrients. Now that you understand the aeroponic system having a hydroponic garden does not seem to be very difficult.
Aero Garden is very compact and will fit in a very small space. So if you are new at indoor gardening trying the method may be the best way to go, there is no mess, and no soil to worry about. The outside weather conditions will have nothing to do with your indoor vegetable garden even if there is no sun shining outside. The only thing you need to do is protect your garden from the little critters and small fry wandering around your house.
This indoor gardening technique is perfect for the new gardener but also for those who enjoy gardening but do not have much outside space for it. So if you live in a condo, an apartment, or high-rise building, the Aero Garden is the perfect solution for your gardening needs. Everything will be right at your fingertips to enjoy.
Barbara has done some research on the Aero Garden for growing vegetables and herbs in the kitchen. She has also found other good ideas for the garden and wants to share, so please visit her website Gardeners Garden Supplies for more information.
