Hot Lips for Winter

Dry, cracked, stinging lips. Is there anything worse during the winter months? Most of the time, we are so busy protecting the rest of our faces during the winter months, we forget to protect our biggest asset. The lips are the most noticed part of the body during conversations because that is where the sound comes from.

If you have dry, flaky, cracked lips you can guarantee that they will stick out like sore thumbs whenever you are around other people. It really is a nightmare. But why put up with this type of problem when there are so many products available on the market that will protect those lips and make them look just as kissable as ever.

I couldn’t blame you if you were feeling a little overwhelmed when it comes to the huge variety of lip moisturizers on the market. It seems that just about every where you look, they are lining the shelves of stores. So how do you choose a lip moisturizer that will protect your lips and not make them worse over the winter months?

To begin with, it is important to be aware that the skin on our lips is very delicate, even more so than our face. Moisture is very important to them, but that doesn’t mean that you should lick them. Licking your lips is one of the main causes of dry, chapped lips. So keep that tongue in your mouth, please!

It is also a good idea to choose a lip moisturizer that contains natural moisturizers. Aloe Vera, cocoa butter, and vitamin E are ideal. Natural products are becoming more important because we are now more aware than ever that 60% of the stuff we put on our skin is absorbed into the blood stream. Scary thought, isn’t it?

Choose a lip moisturizer that will work well with your lipstick. Lipstick is not always the best stuff for keeping lips moisturized and plump, unless you have chosen a really good quality product that contains a lip moisturizer. But no matter what lipstick you have, make sure that you put a little lip moisturizer on before applying. You can never be too careful with the care of your lips.

Make sure that your lip moisturizer is easily replaced and can be bought in bulk, so you can place them in convenient like your handbag, bathroom, kitchen draws, in pockets and the glove box of your car.

Don’t just buy a lip moisturizer because it is expensive, thinking that it is the best. You don’t necessarily have to choose the most popular brands on the market, either. Choose something that works well for you and your skin type. This may mean that you have to shop around and try a few different brands with different ingredients in them.

Once you have found something that works, stick to it. Get into the routine of applying your lip moisturizer regularly, especially if you are going outdoors in winter. But don’t stop there. To keep your lips looking sexy all year round, keep applying your lip moisturizer even after winter. A great idea for all year round lip moisturizing is a moisturizer that contains sunscreen. Admittedly, it won’t do much in winter months, but it will protect you from sun damage in the summer and will still keep you moisturized in the winter.
